Ding Mao, a supermarket clerk, accidentally boils the store's shark alive. That same night, he discovers a missing person notice for his father and hears an otherworldly voice. Soon, strange occurrences begin disrupting his life. Compelled by forces beyond his understanding, Ding returns to his hometown Shenyang after 20 years. There, he encounters a series of eccentric figures and gradually, all pieces converge-weaving into a symphonic echo of history, memory, fantasy, and reality.
Born in 1995, Zhong Kaifeng graduated from the Central Academy of Drama. This debut feature Atlantic Rhapsody was selected as one of the Top 10 finalists of the 7th CFDG Young Director Project and received 3 awards (including the most promising director award) at 2022 Golden Rooster Film Project Market. In 2024, it’s awarded again with the WIP Dawn Breaker Honorary Award of Golden Rooster Film Project Market.
